Our good friend RyanCole Weldon-Carroll was diagnosed with T-Cell leukemia just days before his 11th birthday. He has shown tremendous strength and courage throughout the first 7 months of very intense, high dosage chemotherapy treatments. The entire treatment program will last 3 years and 6 months.

Even with insurance, RyanCole's family (Mark, Jules and RyalJames) face a tremendous financial burden. Insurance that could max out later this year, however right now they face out of pocket expenses that range from $500-$2000 a month for medicines and co-pays. One month of chemo treatment and hospital stays may run as high as $300,000. Once the maximum amount of RyanCole’s insurance policy is met, the financial responsibility for all bills will rest solely on his family.

Mark and Jules appreciate the incredible support from friends and neighbors including meals, transportation, gifts and pet care that has been received.

This is just the beginning of a long road ahead and we will need to continue to rally together to help RyanCole and his family.

We appreciate any support, large or small. RyanCole is a great kid and we want to make sure his family can focus on his treatment and not their medical bills. Racing to Support RyanCole

Dear Friends and Friends of Friends of RyanCole Weldon-Carroll,

As many of you know, RyanCole was diagnosed with leukemia just days before his 11th birthday. Although devastating news, love and support from the community have helped carry RyanCole, his brother Ryal James (6), and his parents Mark and Jules through these first difficult few months.

Since his diagnosis, RyanCole has been in and out of the hospital at Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas in Austin. In August, RyanCole began a three year six month treatment plan of very intense, high dosage, chemotherapy treatments. At the end of this time, if RyanCole remains leukemia free, no relapse for five years, then his chances are good. If there is a relapse with T-cell the chances for survival are only 10 percent. This will be a very long and difficult time.

Mark and Jules have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from the community. They truly appreciate the meals, transportation, thoughtful gifts and pet care that has been received. This is just the beginning of a long road ahead and the community will need to continue to rally together to help this family.

To do just that, we are organizing a fundraiser for two upcoming Austin road races. Friends and neighbors will be running the 3M Half Marathon on January 24th and the Austin Half or full Marathon on February 14th to support RyanCole in his fight against this horrific disease.

The Weldon/Carroll Family faces a tremendous financial burden. The family has insurance that will most likely max out later this year, however right now they face out of pocket expenses that range from $1000-$2000 a month for medicines and co-pays. One month of chemo treatment and hospital stays may run as high as $300,000. Once the maximum amount of RyanCole’s insurance policy is met, the financial responsibility for all bills will rest solely on his family. Let's make a goal of raising 1 - 3 months worth of out-of pocket expenses for the family! So far we have raised just over $500.

To get involved, there are three things you can do:

1. Run a race - or TWO!
